Service Description
Cholecystitis is swelling and irritation (inflammation) of the gallbladder. The gallbladder is an organ that is shaped like a pear. It is under the liver on the right side of the body. This condition is often caused by gallstones. You doctor may do tests to see how your gallbladder works. These tests may include: • Imaging tests, such as: ◦An ultrasound. ◦MRI. • Tests that check how your liver works. This condition needs treatment. HOME CARE Home care will depend on your treatment. In general: • Takeprescription medicines only as told by your doctor. • If you were prescribed an antibiotic medicine, take it as told by your doctor. Do not stop taking the antibiotic even if you start to feel better. • Follow instructions from your doctor about what to eat or drink. When you are allowed to eat, avoid eating or drinking anything that causes your symptoms to start. • Keep all follow-up visits as told by your doctor. This is important. GET HELP IF: • You have pain and your medicine does not help. • You have a fever. GET HELP RIGHT AWAY IF: • Your pain moves to: ◦Another part of your belly (abdomen). ◦Your back. • Your symptoms do not go away. • You have new symptoms.
